Members Report April 2025

The 2024/25 season concluded with a remarkable achievement with promotion to the Northern Premier League West Division, a testament to the hard work of our players, coaching staff and your incredible support. The fantastic turnout at our last game of the season has also meant a return to profitability.

You, the members, have been at the heart of this success, and the atmosphere created at Gigg made it a fortress and a vital part of our promotion push.

We are already planning for next season and Dave is intent on strengthening the squad, as you will have seen by the various new signings.

Turning to matters off the pitch, the fire retardant treatment of the steelwork in the main stand is nearing completion, which was essential to maintain our safety certificate and keep the stand open. The cost was significant and will deplete our cash reserves, but should remain effective for over 10 years and is essential.

As stated at the AGM, we would be reviewing the cost-effectiveness of our current auditors. Following this review, we initiated a tender process to ensure we are receiving the best value for our audit services. As a result, we are currently in the process of appointing a local audit firm. Also, in connection with this, we will be starting a Finance and Audit committee very shortly and are looking for any volunteers with a finance/budgeting or accounting background. Probably meeting once every quarter. If you would like to offer your services, please contact the club.
