This is an important role within the Society's governance structure and offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the effective running of FSSB and to support the continued development of supporter ownership at Bury Football Club.
While the role of Secretary is non-voting, it plays a vital part in supporting the Board, ensuring good governance, and maintaining the smooth administration of the Society.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on governance and regulatory compliance, ensuring the organisation operates in line with its rules, legal obligations, and relevant football governance standards.
- Organise and support Board meetings, AGMs, and other formal meetings, including agendas, minutes, governance documentation, and action tracking.
- Manage Board elections and member voting processes, ensuring they are fair, transparent, democratic, and compliant.
- Maintain accurate statutory, governance, and membership records, and oversee the administration of rule changes and constitutional updates.
- Prepare and submit annual returns, statutory filings, and regulatory documentation to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and other relevant bodies within required deadlines.
- Act as the Society’s main administrative contact, supporting communication with members, volunteers, regulators, and key stakeholders while promoting transparency and accountability.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for an organised and dependable individual with strong governance and administrative skills to support the effective running of the Society. You will have experience coordinating meetings and elections, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with governance and regulatory requirements.
You will be an effective communicator, able to work collaboratively with Board members, volunteers, and stakeholders, while handling confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Experience within a supporter-owned club, community organisation, or knowledge of Community Benefit Society requirements, AGM administration, GDPR, safeguarding, or statutory returns would be advantageous but is not essential.
