AGM Update
We have previously circulated draft annual accounts for the Football Supporters’ Society of Bury (“FSSB”), Bury Football Club (2019) Ltd and The Bury Football Club Company Limited (“TBFCCL”) in advance of the AGM and have invited members to vote on the annual accounts and ask questions.
Following productive conversations between the members of the FSSB board and the benefactors that comprise the board of TBFCCL we have found an issue with the draft accounts for TBFCCL around how best to report the grant funding provided by Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities ("DLUHC").
We are in the process of agreeing with the auditors in which companies we need to disclose the DLUHC grant. This exercise requires input from DLUHC, so may take a few more days to resolve. There is no impact on the companies’ total turnover, profit, cash balance or status of the grants. This is purely a disclosure issue but we need all parties to be satisfied prior to authorising the companies’ financial statements.
Whilst the matter is expected to be resolved within the next few days, a meeting with the auditors is scheduled for 17 December 2024, completion cannot be guaranteed in time for the AGM on 18 December 2024.
Whilst we can present unaudited versions of the accounts to members at the AGM and notify further material changes that may arise before filing the accounts, it was felt prudent, given the issue, to postpone the AGM and re-schedule for mid-January 2025.
This is obviously disappointing to members given they have taken time to review the documentation, ask questions and cast their vote.
On the presumption that the accounting matter is resolved, a revised AGM notice will be posted in the first week of January 2025.
