2024 AGM and Election Process
The 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Football Supporters’ Society of Bury (FSSB) will take place on 18th December 2024 via Zoom (or similar online conferencing software).
All members will receive full formal notification of the meeting and associated documents before the AGM.
Memberships will remain open for now but closed before voting begins. As there has been some evidence of abuse of the membership system, we have decided to only allow annual memberships between now and that date to deter further abuse.
Once again, all votes will be recorded electronically in advance of the meeting via the secure online voting system previously used.
- We will ask you to approve the minutes of the previous AGM (28th Dec 2023, available below)
- We will ask you to receive and adopt the Society and its subsidiaries’ accounts to 30th June 2024
- We will ask you to approve the appointment or re-appointment of our auditors
- We will ask you to elect or approve up to three Football Supporters’ Society of Bury board members for three-year terms
- We will transact any other business
Board Elections
As this will be the Annual General Meeting following the first Annual General Meeting of the Society, one third of the members of the Society Board first elected by the members must be put up for re-election. This is usually done by length of service, but as last year was our first election the three were drawn by lots as per our rules. The three people standing down are Phil Young, Darren Bernstein and Rod Peters. They will then apply for re-election.
Voting for candidates is expected to commence on the 21st November 2024 and remain open for 21 days. Voting will close on the 12th December 2024.
Nominations for the Society Board
The Society’s Board Election policy can be found below.
Any member wishing to stand as a candidate for the Society Board should submit a written nomination by 5pm on 5th November 2024 to Andrew Madaras at the email address provided in the form who will confirm receipt.
The nomination form is available below.
Nominations will close on the 5th November at 17.00 hours. We will publish the names and statements of those nominated for board positions once the deadline has passed and the candidates accepted as meeting the criteria.
Any person wishing to be a candidate for election to the Society Board must be a fully paid-up society member and must have been a member for six months prior to the AGM. They must also be nominated by at least two fully paid-up members.
Any person wishing to be a candidate for election to the Society Board must also read, understand and agree to the Election Policy. They must confirm eligibility to stand for the Society Board under the criteria laid out in the notice of election. In addition, they must agree to the Rules of the organisation and uphold its values and principles.
If elected, they also agree to be bound by the Board Membership and Conduct Policy available here.
Campaigning under the auspices of the Society will be restricted to the statements submitted by the candidates, and candidates should ensure they do not breach the campaigning rules.
We are grateful to Andrew Madaras for his assistance as independent scrutineer for the election process.
